Writing is a process because it takes a lot of strategizing and thought. Writers must use certain stages in their writing, stages like brainstorming, drafting, editing and revising. Each stage is important in creating a clear product. Brainstorming allows the writer to form ideas and get anything from their head, out onto paper. Drafting helps set the outline and boundaries for the piece. Editing and revising help clean up the whole thing. A writing process allows you to expand your thoughts and really connect what you are putting on paper. The process helps with focus and makes writing better.

When this semester started, I had believed I was a strong writer, but this class has managed to humble me.  I realized that I enjoyed writing, but I was not very strong with technique. The essays we have done in this class have really helped me in growing as a writer. I would say my biggest improvement would be revising my essays and really working hard on just the draft bit. I used to believe it was just a waste of my time in a way until peer review was introduced and my fellow classmates were able to help me improve my drafts and prepare me for the final entry.  Linked above I put my essay #1. For this essay I enjoyed writing, and it really helped me learn new things when it came to writing. Although my mistake was, I still was not fully onboard with revising my drafts, so it created a bit of a downfall for me. Essay #2 was definitely my favorite essay to write. Since I already had a main idea on what, Logos. Pathos, and Ethos was this essay went smoothly for me. I took in my peer’s corrections during peer review and really enjoyed it. I made the corrections and really got inspired. This is where I began to really realize how important is to revise my drafts before the final submission. Essay #3 was fairly difficult for me, I had a hard time understanding the prompt, so I went with what felt best. This version of peer review was with our professor, and I really enjoyed it. I was given really good corrections that I took into consideration and did them. I was not very sure of how my essay would do but after the corrections I made I was very sure of it.

This semester of writing has taught me a lot and I truly believe I’m a much stronger writer than I have ever been. This class has helped me to really connect to what I’m writing and allow everything to come together.  I’ve also been able to connect to other people among me during peer review. I also was able to learn really fun things about some of my classmates. I can definitely see myself using all the new techniques I learned in my future class. I’m very glad my first writing class in college was with Professor Grossman. Every class was very comforting and a safe Environment that helped me strive in writing.
