Journal entry #8
“The way we think about ourselves and others – and even the way we perceived reality-makes us distinct from other humans on the planet, not to mention the vast majority of our ancestors.” this quote stuck out to me because I love thinking about how all were so different from each other, and its honestly a weekly thought I will have, and then ill also love learning new things about people.
Journal Entry #7
‘So, if you really want to hurt me, talk badly about my language.’ (page 4).
I think this sticks out to me because it helps you feel how important it is to him, and how it is not just a language to him but a part of who he is. People will often try to mock other languages not realizing how it can be harmful.
Journal entry #6
So, for this essay, its mainly my brother who inspires me to do good in college, like I want to make my mom proud of course, but I’d consider my brother someone who is pretty smart, not that my mom isn’t, but he likes to give me tips to do better, and I’m always wanting to help and listen to people which is what inspires me to major in Social Work.
Journal Entry #5
I think my favorite part was that he actually started an acting career, I think his approach of being a new person and pretending to be someone completely different is a little odd though, but it adds comedic affect that after pretending to be African all that time he started acting.
Journal Entry #4
I present myself as a very shy, and calm collected person, but reality is that I typically stress over everything and I’m very outgoing to the ones close to me. When people point out how I’m shy I sort of just want to internally scream because I truthfully don’t even know how to respond, it makes me feel Awkard and I start feeling sweaty. I probably could not count on my fingers the number of times in high school where people started calling me shy. Anytime I see an outgoing person do that to another shy person I can’t help but feel bad for them because I can completely understand how they feel.
